Divorce Book Giveaway

Hi everyone, a few weeks ago I was moving furniture around and remembered that I had stored many of my divorce self help books in a trunk I was using as a coffee table.  Ya, I’m a little bohemian.  When I bought these books on Amazon I was hungry for help with my situation. Books are like therapy, right?

Co-parenting, money management, alienation and did I mention co-parenting? Those were just a few of the areas I needed help with.  They’re all in good

Fall is in the air. I can almost smell the new, freshly sharpened pencils and blank notebooks.  You know the ones with the line on the left margin? I can feel the brand new text books with stubborn spines holding promise of a new world of words and facts.  Even if we’re not returning to school something in our soul tells us so.  The falling leaves, the sound of school bells and new shoes all say “hey, what are you going to learn?”

Are you going back to school to try something new or are you going to simply turn over a new leaf?

Narcissist or A**hole? Know the Difference

the difference between an a**hole and a narcissist

This post was updated October, 2023. There seems to be a EX Narcissist epidemic. The most common statements I hear over social media and blogging are “My Ex is a Narcissist.” OR “I was married to a Narcissist.”

Funny, you just don’t hear I was married to a complete A**hole anymore. Why?  Because the A**hole has been replaced by the Narcissist it seems.

Narcissism is a personality disorder (NPD) which technically, can only be diagnosed by a psychiatrist. But with the power of the internet we can all identify signs and symptoms of Narcissism at our fingertips. We already know what an a**hole is, right?  So, let’s find out what a Narc is…we’re  curious. We begin reading and watching youtube videos on the subject and voila, we’re convinced our Ex really is a Narcissist and maybe he IS.

Anger is the New Black

I’m over at Divorced Moms today talking about anger.  I’m calling it the ‘New Black’.  Why?  For so long women have been raised to be the nice one.  The nurturer.  That’s all good except when things go terribly wrong.  What happens in life when events, situations or people trigger anger?  Well, they didn’t teach us that did they?  They thought

coming out of the marital closet

Brokeback Mountain-the film was one of the first to chronicle gay married men

It is estimated that millions of marriages end in divorce when one spouse comes out and admits their true sexual orientation.  Millions!

I am fascinated by this scenario and always wonder what were the signs?  Did she or he have a clue?  When your spouse admits they’re gay after decades of marriage, it must be absolutely devastating for the

Hobby Therapy-It Really Works

hobby therapy-it worksDo you ever have one of those days, you wish you could go straight back to bed?  Just call it a day when it’s barely begun?  I sure have.  I’ve had many a dark day during my divorce.

One of the biggest things that helped me cope was spending a little time everyday doing something I loved.  Exercise has always been a big part of my life and it sure saved me during the stressful times.  I felt

Are you inked?  If not, are you thinking about getting a tattoo?  Are these thoughts connected to an event in your life such as divorce, marriage, death, love?  It’s human nature to want to mark an event with a celebration or a ceremony and sometimes with INK.

What does it say about me that I have Madonna and Abba on my ipod?  OLD? or CLASSIC?  Pressing play reminds me ‘I”m old classic”.  My kids are forever making fun of my itunes library, the brats.  I ask them to update it and they only look at me and sigh “Teach your children PARENTS well.. their parent’s CHILDREN’S hell…” (CSN&Y) On that note, I would love to get some new song suggestions from you!

Time-Where Is Yours Going?

time, don't go so fast

It’s supposed to heal but a moment in time can break you.  It’s the one thing we can’t buy.  There is no price on it because it’s invaluable. Yet we squander it away as if we have forever.  We remember the moments but not necessarily whole days.  Let’s talk about the illusive structure of our lives:  Time

Tick. … Tock.   It’s ticking away while we’re ‘busy making other plans’ (John Lennon).

an ideal divorce-is there such a thing?

An ideal divorce-is there such a thing?  Or is it as likely as riding a unicorn off into the sunset.  I would hazard a guess that it’s about as likely as ‘happily ever after’.  Not impossible, but not guaranteed.  First, what is an ideal divorce?
