The Tattoo

The Tattoo Club

I had a dream.

You treated me to a tattoo

For my birthday surprise.

I could not decide on the design

So many choices!

It’s funny, because

I realized

How hard this must be.

For you loathe tattoos

But want me to be

Happy just the same.

It was so clean and

The needle pain-free.

The final poke brought

me into a club–The Tattoo Club.

My forearm was the extremity of choice

(but never would be in real life).

Ink so bold and yet I felt the same.

I awoke before it bled,

Then I laughed as I watched you sleep beside me.

You had no idea what you had just done.

LTW.

Are you in the tattoo club?

What a wonderful poem, Lisa. I love how it all was a dream in the end and also love the message behind it – that we all have our own opinions and tastes on tattoos, and if you really love someone, you will let them make their own choice about it. I find it fascinating how some choose to get tattoos on every inch on their body. I guess it’s personal and each one means something strongly to them, and each piece is a work of art. Personally I’ve got nothing against tattoos. Sometimes I can’t help but stare at someone’s tattoos in the street XD

Thank you, Mabel 🙂 The dream was almost as good as the real deal. Ha. Yes, even in the comments here, there is a variety of reactions and opinions on tattoos. I have no issues with people’s tattoos. I don’t really notice or look at them, either. I know some people who are almost covered.
Always nice to see you here, Mabel. Thanks for popping over with your thoughts!

Marcia, I’m kinda jealous. You are a cool and beautiful lady and I think tattoos suit you!

I’m not and probably won’t be, but hey, if Cassidy or one of the kids ever wants to be in the club, I hope I can be somewhat supportive, like in your dream.

So, no one here is tatted. Ha. We’re in the cool-untattooed club. I’m sure you would be. Although, I admit that seeing your child’s first tattoo is kind of … well I can’t think of the word. nice to see you as always, Tamara!

    Hello Lisa,
Love your dream. I will confess I would love one – just one – but I dread the pain.
Sometimes a Tattoo is a way to start a new life, like a hair cut.
Or just the wish to underline a change.
    Have a lovely day!

It was quite a nice dream actually, which made me wonder if it is something I would like. however like you, just one and it would be very small. We’ll see. I don’t have a burning desire but have given it some thought. Nice way of putting it about underlining a change. Let me know if you decide to get one 🙂

NEVER! I don’t like tattoos and I am glad you got it only in a dream Lisa. I wonder how much people like them that they get whole of the arm tattooed! Must be painful too. Have you read the famous story about tattoo? It is called ‘The Background’ by Saki (H.H.Munro) Google it now if you haven’t read! 😊

😀 Yes, only in a dream and I’m not even sure what it was. Haha. Well I know several of the younger generation (a few belonging to me) that are tattooed on the whole arm(s). I do not pretend to understand it. I merely accept that they have made the choice. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain they endured to have these works of art on their body parts. No, I have not. Thanks for sharing that recommendation. I found this when I googled it: http://sittingbee.com/the-background-saki/ and it looks like a good article. I will read the whole thing later today. I only read the first few paragraphs to get the gist. It sounds alarming…and mysterious.

Great poem Lis. No, I’m not in that club, but to each their own. <3

Thank you, Deb. I thought this one was a bit of fun. Yeah, me too. To each his own, indeed. I don’t judge. More people have them than not, so I think we’re becoming desensitized to seeing the radical art on bodies of all shapes and sizes.

NO AND I NEVER WILL BE………..NOW THE ACTORS HAVE THEM AND IT RUINS THE MOVIES FOR ME AS I THINK OH THATS NOT SO AND SO BECAUSE THEY LIVE NOW!With this HIDEOUS TREND that has lasted FOREVER…………….someone Will make a FORTUNE taking them OFF but most likely in our LIFE TIME!Have you ever seen or heard ANYONE give a compliment to some ones TATTOO?Plus they are in GOD AWFUL DARK PEN for the most part so absolutely NO BEAUTY!FOR ME…………
I JUST DO NOT GET IT!We ladies have TOO MANY other things going on to worry about how a Tattoo looks and will AGE!Makes me CRINGE to even think about it!
    XXX
PS. DID you receive the CAFTAN?

Yes and I think the actors have to cover up the tattoos for roles. That can’t be a fun process. The tattoo removal business is booming, so I hear. I have seen repeated compliments on tattoos belonging to my daughter. Sigh. The compliments come from her peers mostly. I don’t usually see an older person going gaga over her tatts. She seems to enjoy the outcome with the exception of one of her early tattoos. I agree with you about the aging. There’s no doubt the tattoo will not look the same as our body changes and ages. Yikes, what a thought. I think we are now in the minority, LA CONTESSA. We are in the un-tattoo club 😀

I like your poem and no, I’m not in the tattoo club, and my thought are similar with the one sleeping beside you. However, a smile tattoo like that is better than art up and down one body.

Thank you, Jeff 🙂 Yes, I agree. I think a small one that gives a positive feeling to a person is not a bad thing.
