Not a very neat stack. I guess that’s why I never got hired at a clothing store. Nonetheless, my collection of pajama pants and t’s.

I’ve had a fondness for pajamas for as long as I can remember. As a young child I recall mourning my pajamas when my mother confiscated them. She had decided they were too small for me. Just because my arms and legs were extending far beyond the leg and arm holes? I beg of you. Have mercy on a child who loves her pajamas. When I went in search of the trash bag I suspected contained my worn out pajamas, I found gold. Those pajamas lasted another year.

My cousin and I circa 1970-something:

My cousin (left) and me. These are THE pajamas. Looks like both of us out grew our pj’s

Shopping often ends up in the lingerie department

When I’m supposed to be shopping for other people, I somehow end up in the lingerie department. Which ends up with me buying new pajamas for me-me. It is a bit of a strange obsession. Many people even ask why I have pajamas when I could sleep just as well in big, oversized t-shirts.

“I beg your pardon…?” said the pajama queen.

My favorite ones on the top. Who’s that creeping in the pic?

In my defense, I add to my pajama collection during sales. Sooooo, as it were, I have been blessing my little obsession of late. After all, I have a great deal of choice for lounge wear during quarantine. I could put on a V.S. fashion show for my beau. But I won’t.

Speaking of him—he who wears a single pair of pajama pants—his new uniform is a pair of flannel pj bottoms topped with a t-shirt and hoodie. I call it his uniform because he will not vary this outfit. At. All.

He has a few other pair of pajama bottoms but he claims they are not as comfortable. So, yeah, I’m going to be seeing this outfit a LOT.

I could put on a VS Fashion show, but I won’t

On the other hand, I have a choice of several bottoms that I like to mix and match with various pajama tops. I also have several sleep nighties that look acceptable worn in the morning over top of a pair of pj bottoms. My multiple sets of shorts & tanktops can be worn under a robe in either summer or winter. Also, I have a few long, shirt sleepers. The only thing I’m missing is a onesie. One of my girlfriends wore the cutest onesie when we had our girls’ weekend away. I wish I had taken a picture—she would kill me if I posted it though.

To think I almost purged some of my pajama drawer before the pandemic hit. While I was having trouble closing the drawer, I wondered, did I really ‘need’ all these pajamas? It turns out that, yes, I do need them all. I certainly would have regretted purging my pajama collection during the first week of quarantine. Now at 7 weeks quarantine I’m tempted to live in my pajamas—at least I know I could if I wanted to.

Forget the toilet paper. Buy some new pajamas while you shop on-line. This wardrobe staple has been elevated to an essential need in the time of coronavirus. If you can get a mask to match? Points!

Teddy

Who’s the real star of this post? Teddy, of course. Meet Ted, my teddy bear since I was 3. Teddy was my mother’s childhood toy long before I adopted him. He was in much better shape back then. I took him out of the attic when I was pregnant with my daughter. I wanted Teddy to be a part of my baby daughter’s world. But he needed some mending. Somehow I found a lady who specialized in fixing antique teddy bears.

An antique herself, she managed to give Teddy a new eye (which he has since lost, leaving him half blind again) and repaired one of his back paws. The old lady recommended leaving Teddy’s half-chewed ear as it was, to avoid decreasing his market value. He is priceless as is…so it’s all good with or without a mangled ear and one eye.

When he returned from the teddy ‘hospital’ I placed him on a shelf in my daughter’s nursery. Since then, he has been well cared for. He has even sat atop our Christmas tree, with a large red ribbon on his neck.

Teddy is curious when this little fashion show will be over.
He is posing in his momma’s favorite chair.

You can see his stitches on his left paw in the above picture. Teddy bears never have them removed 😉

Enjoy your own pajama party everyone. You can never have too many especially during pandemic.

What are you wearing—a onesie, tank top and shorts, an old concert T, a nightie, or fancy pajamas?

Pajamas are the best! Because I’m disabled and work from home, I actually have pajama bottoms that I change into after I wake and shower to wear through the day. They’re my work-jamas! lol

Fun post! I actually tried to buy some new PJs a couple of weeks ago and every pair I liked was sold out so I think a lot of folks are enjoying the PJ life right now, lol.

Aw, that’s probably it. We’ll try again in a few weeks. Can never have too many, especially now.

haha, I think Teddy is enjoying the fashion show. I think the fashion show is lifelong. I’m a pajamas person and so is my mom. I buy her a new set every Christmas. That said, I don’t do the sets. I love flannel pants in the colder months, and cotton pants in the warmer months. With a long-sleeved shirt during cold months and maybe a t-shirt or camisole in warmer months. All fun! Lately being pregnant I’ll wake up like. shirtless. I swear that’s not TMI. Just trying to get comfy, I guess!

At one point he toppled over with his paw over his one eye haha! Aw, that’s so sweet. I typically buy my daughter pj’s on her birthday and/or Christmas. They often have a black cat pattern…she has two black cats so it’s fitting. I’m sure you have at least one pair with rainbows and unicorns…and donuts with sprinkles!
Ha! Your shirt is coming off…getting ready for nursing the babe… 😀 Or you’re just heating up more than usual.

Thanks for this Pajama party Lisa, I loved it, especially your antique teddy. He must be so precious with a string of memories. Nothing like PJs, yours look beautiful and you have so much of variety. Thanks for the inspiration to buy some more.

Aw, Teddy is so cute. I love that he’s been around for years. And I LOVE Pj’s. I have more pajama pants than tops – I don’t usually like the sets. I’ll like the pants, but not the shirt. I definitely wear PJ pants a lot these days. hah

He is so sweet but really showing his age now 🙁 ‘Patina’ is all. I’m the same way in that I don’t always like the tops that go with the sets, still I buy the set to get the bottoms. Ha! I swap out flannel bottoms now for the lighter cotton ones. Yes, it’s pajama party time now more than ever, Lauren xo

    Pajamas look fun!
I spent the past 30 days with my favorite jean and jumper (with Amour on it). Needed love at this special time!
My little boy love his pajamas, they’re comfy for sure.

🙂 I love color and I guess it shows in my pajama wear. I do enjoy a cream/neutral as well but that seems to be missing. I know what I’ll buy next time. I love that your sweater says AMOUR…we need more of that. It sounds cozy as well. Take care, Marie, and you have a nice weekend. xx

I love the idea of a quarantine pyjama party! I’m currently struggling with the quarantine because I was meant to go on my first ever expedition this summer and now I have a whole year and a half that’s completely empty. I’m not quite sure what to do with my self haha.

    I hope you’re well.

Yes, even if it’s just us…

That’s very disappointing, Amy. I hope you get to go when this clears up. Plan B as they say, can sometimes surprise you. You’re not alone in the feelings 😛

I still have my old teddy and even brought him along to Spain. He is a bit worse for wear as he was in a box in our storage compartment in Tsawwassen for many years. But I couldn’t leave him behind. You have a great PJ collection. I have three pairs and love them, especially during the lockdown. Soon, though, I will be getting the tank tops and short PJs out. Stay safe and happy in your PJs.

Aww, glad I’m not the only one who has kept Teddy 🙂 Thanks, Darlene. Enjoy your pj’s, too. It’s the time to.
