10 Reasons to Watch War of the Roses Again

10  Reasons Why you should watch The War of The Roses again or for the first time.

“Don’t try to ever compete with a woman when it comes to love or revenge.” lawyer, Gavin D’Amato (Danny DeVito)

I saw the “War of The Roses” back in 1989 and I really didn’t get it. I had been married for two years. A whole two years! How could I even begin to understand this masterpiece?

4 am in La La Land

4 am in La La Land

A dreamy image by artist Kathe Soave

At 4 am we pretty much think of everything and anything. What’s right with the world and what’s wrong. What we love and what we hate. Good and bad.  A time where dreams and reality sometimes collide.

That’s what life is, a collision. Shifting time passages, repetition, dreams and reality mixed in a blender of life.

Go see La La Land. It will put an exclamation point on it.

My Own Personal La La Land

Oh, and it really is 4 am as I write this.

I awoke from a dream. I was washing a dirty pan and although it was coming out clean, I kept scrubbing. Then I fell asleep on the couch (not my couch), in front of the television in a room with a large glass door (not my television or room) that appeared to be open and the gauzy curtain lifted with the in coming breeze.

In Praise Of Older Women, With Younger Men

In Praise of Older Women, With Younger MenIn my mind I’m not the older woman because I’m 22, don’t ya know? However, the calendar begs to differ. Last year I celebrated my 50th spin around the sun and the number still stuns me, just a little. So, any-who, men have been doing it since the dawn of time. They’ve been enjoying the beauty of much younger women. To the older woman’s vexation, it’s perfectly acceptable—a feather in his cap.

I originally wrote this as a guest writer.  The site owner pulled it off her site when she was warned by Google that it is considered p*rn.   It’s hardly p*rn. With the trailer for the film version of the 50 Shades book series released, I thought it timely to share this post with you.

the divorcee's guide to wedding season

The Wedding Date

Tis the season…for weddings.  Yay.  Sometimes the last thing we feel like doing is attending a wedding as a single divorcee. The romance, the dancing, the ‘love’ in the air is enough to choke the bitterness right out of us.

Sometimes we just need to curl up on the couch with a cup of tea or glass bottle of wine and watch a good movie.  Even better if we can relate to the main character’s situation, dilemma or pain.  It’s time for our Divorce movie count down…

LISA’S DIVORCE MOVIE Countdown…

12. Blue Valentine

Ryan Gosling & Michelle Williams-this film is phenomenal and it’s not higher on my list because it is just so damn hard to watch. Their love story is told in flashbacks while we watch these two fall out of love and end in divorce.  Blue Valentine gets top marks for its darkness but don’t watch this if you’re already suffering from depression…seriously…heed my warning
