This little blog turns 6 today! Wow, where has the time gone? The original post is here and I believe I’ve stayed fairly true to my purpose. That said, I see myself branching out as time goes on. I’m not sure what those branches will be, in all honesty. Maybe more focus on well-being and less focus on specific divorce issues? Continue reading “Happy 6th Blog Birthday!”
Well, I’m sitting in a smokey haze. It’s not that I’ve taken up smoking but it’s the forest, wild-fire smoke that has blown into town this week. It’s cast a yellow tint to everything including my brain.
Maybe it’s a summer slacker thing, but I’ve been avoiding my blog. Continue reading “Smokey Summer Update”
I’ve recently finished reading the non-fiction, self help book, Allow Yourself To Be a Better Person by Balroop Singh. I felt compelled to share my review with all of my Escapees. Why? Because not only did I love this book but I’m sure you will also find value in Balroop’s wisdom. Continue reading “Book Review-Allow Yourself To Be a Better Person”
Reading is one of my favorite hobbies as you likely have guessed. It follows suit to recommend novels with divorced heroes/heroines. We can always gain comfort from someone else’s divorce story fictional or fact. Similar to my television series and divorce movie countdown, here are the 14 books… Continue reading “14 Best Novels With Divorced Heroines”
My new book available now: A Divorce Companion. This is the perfect accompaniment to my original book, The Great Escape; A Girl’s Guide to Leaving a Marriage which covers all your needs if you’re an economically dependent spouse initiating a divorce.
Grab your favorite mug. Mine’s full of Kona coffee (lies). I don’t actually care for Kona coffee…
So, back to reality here. We had a wonderful trip to Hawaii which I’m going to share some photos with you. Unfortunately, we came back to some serious winter weather. I feel like I’m back on the Prairies! I was away for over two weeks and missed you all dearly. I know, you didn’t miss me because it’s the law of vacations. When you’re away, time slows down and while you’re home, time is the same and thus passes quickly. You didn’t have time to miss me… Continue reading “Catch Up Over Coffee #2”
Well, as promised, I have finished reading and I’m ready to share with you my review of Dr. John T. Chirban’s Collateral Damage; Guiding and Protecting You Child Through the Minefield of Divorce. (And I thought the title of my book was long). I was given two advance copies for an honest review and giveaway here at the blog. The book is slated for publication this month. That means, the books I have for the giveaway are pre-published editions and as such have no page numbers and the Foreward is not included. Continue reading “Book Review & Giveaway-Collateral Damage, Guiding and Protecting Your Child…”
Hello Escapees, want to catch up over coffee? That’s one of my favorite things to do with friends. Even though we can’t do it literally, we can do it virtually here at the blog. Thanks to Shantala over at Shanayatales, for starting this Catch Up Over Coffee theme. It’s just an informal chat designed to put a more personal slant on the blog.
I think after all that’s been going on it’s nice to take a deep breath and just talk. Shoot the breeze. So, grab your cup a joe. (Ironically, I wrote a similar post almost exactly a year ago Hello! Come On In, I’ll Put Coffee On I guess Shantala and I think alike). Continue reading “Catch Up Over Coffee”
My work in progress is The Icing On The Cake, a short story collection about love lost and won. In the past, I shared an excerpt from one of the stories with you here on the blog. Although I have shelved it due to ____________ (fill in the blank with any excuse), I have not given up on it. I
believe hope my fiction writing and also believe hope that my readers will get something out of my short story collection.
What stage is it at, you may be wondering. It’s been through a handful of ‘beta readers’ where they each made valuable suggestions. I made some of those recommended changes. Then it went through the first round of professional edits by both Chrys Fey and Jeri Walker who I highly recommend either of these ladies for fiction editing. I’ve been working on those edits as I mentioned however, I have also shelved it mentally for a few months. Continue reading “The Icing On The Cake Story Excerpt”
― Cassandra Clare,
I’m not sure what chapter I’m in but I hope it’s somewhere in the middle. The saggy middle. That’s the part of the story where we have to continue the suspense and rising action or we’ll get bored and abandon the book. How many chapters will our life even contain? While we don’t know the answer to this, an unknown ending is what keeps us moving forward. Continue reading “If Your Life Is A Book”
