So I’m on a bit of a rant today. If you’re a mom, you might feel the same. On Saturday May 8th, I had a nice face-time call with my son and his girlfriend. Of course, we got onto the subject of mother’s day and what my plans were. Then I remembered last year’s mother’s day, and I told them about how I turned on the television in the evening, to see what wonderful shows/movies might be on.
Before we start, let me apologize for the length of this post. I tried to reduce it but there was just so much to talk about. Soon after watching the finale of Big Little Lies, I was compelled to write a review of sorts. Of course, I’m no expert on television except to say that I’m a fan of HBO. I also tried to get this published while it was still fresh but a week has passed. Let’s hope my Escapees still care and maybe even other women looking to understand this complex set of characters.
Let’s get into the nitty gritty of this much anticipated season two of Big Little Lies. It’s been highly criticized this season for not living up to the hype surrounding its premiere. Before you read further though, know that this contains *spoilers*.
If you’re home alone for the holidays, no need to despair. There are several inspirational lessons we can learn from young Kevin in the iconic Christmas classic movie—“Home Alone”.
I must apologize (or must I?) for two movie inspired blog posts in a row. First, The War of The Roses and now, “Home Alone”. It’s not that I’m out of ideas, it’s simply that I often come up with a blog idea while watching a favorite television show or movie. Here we have it;

I saw the “War of The Roses” back in 1989 and I really didn’t get it. I had been married for two years. A whole two years! How could I even begin to understand this masterpiece?

Last year I celebrated my 50th spin around the sun and the number still stuns me, just a little. So, any-who, men have been doing it since the dawn of time. They’ve been enjoying the beauty of much younger women. To the older woman’s vexation, it’s perfectly acceptable—a feather in his cap.

Sometimes we just need to curl up on the couch with a cup of tea or glass bottle of wine and watch a good movie. Even better if we can relate to the main character’s situation, dilemma or pain. It’s time for our Divorce movie count down…

12. Blue Valentine
Ryan Gosling & Michelle Williams-this film is phenomenal and it’s not higher on my list because it is just so damn hard to watch. Their love story is told in flashbacks while we watch these two fall out of love and end in divorce. Blue Valentine gets top marks for its darkness but don’t watch this if you’re already suffering from depression…seriously…heed my warning
