October Lately

October LatelyWelcome spooky, October…looks like me trying to come up with a brilliant blog post…

Well, September came and went in a flash. I didn’t write one post here and that is a first for me. I have never gone a whole month without writing something here. Should this concern me? I remember the early days of my blogging back in 2011-12 and I didn’t understand bloggers who would take long, unexpected breaks but now I do. They had been in the game for several years and eventually, we change.

Still Standing Here

I’m still here. It’s been quiet here but I’m —STILL.

I’m still lying awake and staring at the ceiling

I’m still asking why

July and I have a complicated relationship

July and I have a complicated relationship. I’m not sure when that happened exactly. I almost want to say that my adult self is paying penance for carefree Julys of my childhood. But that wouldn’t be accurate either. Not entirely.

Thinking About…Cost of Convenience

by , on
January 31, 2020

Hello, dear friends. What’s been on my mind is our deteriorating environment and my role in it. Specifically thinking about the cost of convenience. As I place a crack-caffeine, coffee pod into my Keurig machine…I’ve come to realize I’m not doing my part.

Hey #McDonald’s How About A Broken Family Night?

November 23, 2019

As I was watching television the other night, a commercial for the old ‘Golden Arches’ (McDonalds) came on. “Join us for Family Night every Wednesday night between 4-7pm!” And in case you were wondering, this post is not sponsored.

The ad showed happy children and parents, happy employees, and all to the background music of Laverne Baker Tweedle Dee possibly one of the happiest songs ever recorded. Well, have a look for yourself:

Hello Escapees, how is life lately for you? I’ve been away and then sick so have been absent here at the blog for a while. I drafted this post a few weeks ago, so you’ll notice where I’ve provided an update. It’s not my typical blog post but always fun to let you in on what I’m up to.

Third Marriages, Yeah or Nay?

Third Marriages, Yeah or Nay?
Third Marriages, Yeah or Nay?
A second marriage is a gimme while a third marriage is akin to a Mulligan.

You’ll notice I didn’t ask about a second marriage because that’s practically a Gimme. It’s expected, even. It’s considered a sign of moving on. A third marriage? That’s more like a Mulligan (you will use it judicially and with caution). Why the golf analogy, you may be wondering. I don’t even know, it just popped into my head. Maybe because my ex was an avid golfer.

A few years ago I wrote this little post on family dynamics. It still gets comments every now and then. Last week I received a beautiful comment from a reader. I’d like to share it with you:

Catch Up Over Coffee at lisathomsonlive.comIt’s been quite a while since I’ve posted on this meme; Catch Up Over Coffee. So, it’s time for a chat over espresso or maybe you prefer plain old drip. Cream? Sugar? Help yourself…it’s on the table.

Lately

I’ve been getting random comments on archived blog posts. Many of them from law firms or lawyers. These are legitimate comments and even thoughtful and interesting. They are definitely not spam. Apparently a blog post lives on, long after we’ve written it. I guess it’s what they call ‘evergreen’ content. The other ones that continue to garner comments are 5 Tips To Handle the Divorce Bully and Narcissist or A**hole? Know the Difference. In case you missed either of those and you need help with a bully or narc, then check those out.
