2015, The Year Of Happiness

exist to be happy2015 promises to be the year of happiness…how?

I was recently reading one of my favorite blogs, Harleena Singh’s Aha Now. You’ll recognize Harleena because she often visits here and leaves encouraging comments. The post was written by guest blogger Kira M. Newman, titled ‘Why Our Ideas About Happiness Are Backwards”.

Kira offers a free happiness class called The Year of Happy. I know it sounds, like well, I’m already happy so why do I need that?

What caught my attention was how she discusses happiness ‘upside down’.

UPSIDE DOWN happiness?

That sounds like something I should explore since parts of my life in the last few years have felt upside down, backwards and well, mixed up. Maybe I can turn my life into upsidedown happiness. If I can, so can you, dear Escapees.  During divorce we can’t help but focus on the negative because we have days when things seem hopeless. But in this happiness class Kira encourages us to take a look at all of the elements of happiness. Gratitude, coping, comparing, forgiveness, relationships…each month is a separate topic to improve our happiness. This promises to make us think about our life in new ways.

It will only take about 2 hours per month and I can’t think of a better way to spend two hours. On ourselves. Mental pampering. Spiritual growth. It’s Free. Free happiness…

So, are you in? Hop over to Kira’s site and read it over…Try it with me? Sign up here.

BTW, Kira doesn’t even know I have written this. I am promoting this because I’m trying it and thought you might be interested in it, too.

Are you already bursting with happiness? If so, what’s your secret?

Leave a comment, I love ’em!

I am so much looking forward to 2015. I agree that we should set aside time for ourselves and just be happy. Let us not look to be happy but learn to be happy with what we have already.

I said to myself last year, when so much fell apart and I started, or more dared, to again face my travel within the travel, let 2015 be a happy year.
Right now I cannot see how it will actually turn up to, of many reasons. But I will do my homework as good girls do – read the course and try to learn. My preferred reading just now is Anne Batterson`s “The black swan: Memory, midlife and migration”. Best regards for the new year, Lisa – from the neverendig pilgrim.

Thanks for sharing, Lisa. I can’t promise to sign up for anything but I will definitely check out Kira’s site.
It seems like you have the right attitude already. I love your first quote because so many of us, especially women, exist to impress and forsake our own happiness in doing so. In order to be truly happy, we must love ourselves. And when we don’t love ourselves, we take our inner awesomeness for granted by giving away some of our most sacred gifts. When we are happy, we know exactly who deserves those gifts because they are the people who help lift us up.
Exists to be happy… I love this.
    Happy New Year, Lisa!!

Hey Gina, that is so true that we get caught up in making sure everyone else is happy. Well, I’ve let go of some of that after my divorce and it was liberating. “we know exactly who deserves those gifts…they are the people who lift us up.” Exactly, Gina. As per usual you hit nail on the head (so to speak). Happy New Year, Gina and I look forward to more posts at Walking in the Write Direction 1n 2015!

I will definitely check her post out, thanks for sharing, Lisa! A quote I try to remember whenever I’m feeling down or discouraged is “Happiness is not trying or finding, it’s deciding.”

Here’s to making 2015 the happiest yet!;-)

Thanks, Jess! Yes, sometimes happiness is a choice…it’s the hard part when things are beyond our control. We can always control our reaction though 🙂 Thanks for stopping over and hope to see you at class. 😉

I will definitely check this out! I would love 2015, to be the year of happiness. The end of 2014 wasn’t so happy but I know that’s in there.. somewhere.

      January 2, 2015 at 11:58 am

That would be great, Tamara! I think it will be interesting and we can compare notes 😉 I’m hearing many people saying the end of the year was difficult. I had my moments too. I think it has to do with all the Christmas hype and expectation. Thanks for stopping over, Tamara. Here’s to a great year 2015!

    Hi Lisa,

So nice of you to promote Kira’s “The Year of Happy” course. 🙂

You’re right that though we might think we are happy, we might still be missing out on the real and easy happiness. Happiness is an essential and very basic quality, but we still need to learn to be happy because our perspectives and fundamentals get distorted by our wrong living practice or bad experiences in life. We really miss the real way to be happy.

It’s great to know that you are taking the course. Wish you all the best and may you be happy for the whole of the rest of the year! 🙂

Hi Harleena, I thought it a nice approach to rethinking gratitude and all those good things 🙂 A great class for me and my readers who may be navigating through divorce. Thanks for bringing Kira to your site as a guest. I’ve met some wonderful bloggers at AhaNow! Cheers to ‘easy happiness’ in 2015!
